Walton-on-the-Naze is a seaside resort. It’s full of stunning beaches, gardens, and narrow streets. History of Walton Pier
The pier is 150ft long and was built in 1830. It’s one of the earliest in the country and it was originally created to aid with the landing of goods and passengers as they transitioned on steamers to Walton. It was then lengthened to 330ft in the year 1848. The pier was damaged in 1871, but a second pier opened in 1880. In the year 1895, Walton Pier and Hotel Company launched a replacement pier project, which was to be 500ft longer than the original. Over the years, the pier was extended, time and time again. It then reached a total length of 2610ft, being the third-longest pier in the whole country. There is also a Walton and Frinton lifeboat which has been moored at the end of the pier, and it has been there since 1900.
